Some of the country’s brightest SharePoint experts will converge in Raleigh next week at the SharePoint Engage conference. Since Microsoft consolidated many of this year’s popular regional SharePoint events into the huge Microsoft Ignite 2015 conference in Chicago back in May, a more intimate SharePoint event is going to be right up some folks’ alley.
Designed for SharePoint developers, information architects, business analysts and power users alike, the inaugural SharePoint Engage is hosted by SharePoint Institute. Broken into three tracks – Business Adoption and Application, Advanced Topics, and User Track – the two-day conference contains 27 sessions and three mini boot camps.
But attendees will agree that the highlight of SharePoint Engage will be the event’s “SharePoint Experts Panel,” headlined by SharePoint gurus Christian Buckley, Jim Adcock and Bryon Brewer.
Christian Buckley
A Microsoft Office 365 MVP and world-renowned speaker, Buckley is the co-author of two SharePoint and three software configuration management books. Former chief evangelist for leading SharePoint firms Axceler and Metalogix, Buckley is currently the chief marketing officer at Silicon Valley-based ISV Beezy. He will speak during the conference’s 12:30 p.m. Tuesday keynote on “Navigating the Evolving Social Capabilities in SharePoint and Office 365.” Buckley will close out the conference at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when he leads the Advanced Topics track session entitled “Managing SharePoint On Prem vs Online: Compare and Contrast.”
Jim Adcock
Known as the “SharePoint therapist,” Adcock is a SharePoint analyst and developer with Dynamic Systems. Adcock is a weekly panelist on the SharePoint ShopTalk podcast and is vice president of the Austin, Texas-based Launch Pad Job Club, an organization that helps unemployed locals gain skills to land their next job, as well as cope with the stress of being jobless. He will speak during two SharePoint Engage sessions: “SharePoint Governance 101” at 3 p.m. Tuesday and “Movin’ On Up: A SharePoint Migration Case Study” at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Bryon Brewer
Brewer is the founder and owner of Project Consults, a Microsoft Certified Partner, based in McKinney, Texas. He regularly develops courses on numerous Microsoft products, including Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio, Project Server and SharePoint, as well as project management and business intelligence. Brewer kicks off SharePoint Engage with the Advanced Topics mini boot camp entitled “Transform Your Organization with SharePoint and Agile Processes” Tuesday morning. He will also speak during the Advanced Topics track session on “The Future of Business Intelligence: Office 365 and Power BI” at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
SharePoint Engage will feature two other mini boot camps at 9 a.m. Tuesday:
- The User Track workshop is entitled “Deciphering and Implementing Permissions Management and Access Control from a Governance Perspective” and will be lead by Tom Robbins. He has worked with Microsoft Enterprise products both as an engineer and technical trainer for 25 years. Robbins is also a member of the SharePoint Advisory Board.
- The Business Adoption and Application workshop “Applying Business Process Automation in SharePoint” is led by William Huneycutt. He is an IT consultant, instructor and courseware developer specializing in Microsoft SharePoint and collaboration technologies. Huneycutt is a Microsoft Certified Professional and a member of the SharePoint Institute Advisory Board.
