I remember being invited to present an end-of-the-year campaign for Autism Speaks on behalf of its Dallas chapter in late 2009. The goal was to train current staff and volunteers on how to effectively increase volunteer hours and donations.

Millions of people all around the world are starting their workday and deciding whether to have one more cup of coffee and whether to even get dressed for the day. Many will have a teleconference from their home office or kitchen. But, there will be some days when they will have to get up, get dressed and travel to their workplace. On those mornings, they will likely spend two hours getting ready for work then drive 45 minutes to an hour in heavy traffic and repeat the same process on the way home. That’s more than three hours of time that could have been spent working.

Interaction is a must in today’s world of training. So, it makes sense that the use of mobile devices is a natural fit for distributed learning since it accompanies the trainer and the trainee anywhere.
