What are the three flag settings during the TCP session setup? (pick 3)
- SYN
- FIN
- SYN ACK
- ACK
- RST
The correct answer is 1, 3, and 4.
For every TCP session, you have to establish the basic parameters of the session (windowing, sequence numbers and acknowledgement numbers). The process start with the SYN bit from the initiator to the target. If the target accepts the session, it will send the SYN and ACK bits set. The initiator will then acknowledge the session. At this point the TCP session is established and ready to carry data.
