Global Knowledge has won an Award of Merit from the Carolina Committee of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) for its development of an advanced Microsoft Lync course.
STC, a professional association dedicated to the advancement of technical communication, recognizes organizations for consistently meeting high design standards and for applying technical communication principles in a highly proficient manner. The group honored Global Knowledge’s development of Microsoft Lync 2013 Depth Support Engineer, an advanced-level course created for support engineers to effectively troubleshoot Lync Server 2013.
The award-winning course was developed by subject matter experts Richard Luckett and Allan Jacobs and instructional designer Evan Harrison. They created compelling advanced Microsoft courseware that enabled Lync support engineers to easily comprehend and gain the skills needed – beyond just design and deployment – to successfully troubleshoot Microsoft Lync Server 2013.
“We are very excited about winning this award for Global Knowledge and hope to win more of these types of awards in the future,” said Ammarah Abbasi, learning design manager for Global Knowledge’s Learning and Performance Solutions division. “We are honored our courseware met STC’s standard for this achievement. It’s so rewarding to see the efforts of Evan, Richard and Allan recognized by their peers as superior work.” Abbasi accepted the award at the STC Carolina Committee’s Awards Banquet earlier this year.
Luckett is a consultant with LITSG and a long-time Global Knowledge instructor specializing in messaging and unified communications. He has been a Microsoft Certified Professional since 1996 and has 20 years of experience. A Microsoft Certified Trainer with more than 15 years of Microsoft training experience, he received the Exchange MVP award in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In addition, he is an expert in deploying and integrating Exchange Server and Lync Server. Richard co-authored “MCSE Administering Exchange 2000 Server Study Guide (Exam 70–224)” and “Microsoft Exchange Server 2007: The Complete Reference,” both published by McGraw-Hill. In addition to co-authoring the award-winning Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Depth Support Engineer course, Luckett has authored seven Microsoft Exchange courses.
Jacobs is a long-time Global Knowledge trainer, consultant and writer based in New York City. He has taught many Train the Trainer sessions, providing instructional skills, as well as Microsoft Lync and System Center expertise, at Microsoft Trainer Summits. For the last nine years he has been selected to staff Microsoft’s TechEd and now Ignite conferences and has served as a subject matter expert on several projects for Microsoft Learning. In addition to being co-author of the award-winning Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Depth Support Engineer course, Jacobs co-authored the revision of the Microsoft Official Courseware for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2.
Harrison is an instructional designer at Global Knowledge, working primarily with business skills development and Microsoft training. He has been in education for eight years and has a master’s degree in English from The University of Southern Mississippi. His current interests include scenario-based learning, digital publishing and Web developer training.
